Fillers are real!

I’m sure what I’m about to say today could possibly offend some folks reading this post. It is not my intention to do that, but I truly see this as an epiphany of sorts.

Tonight the walk was done with the daughter and we did our 2 miles. The timing was fairly long because we did stop and visit some awesome folks. I do have to say that we live in a pretty amazing neighborhood. Most of the time, people don’t know who we are, but the good ones that we know, are stellar humans.

On the walk, the epiphany happened. I was explaining or rather justifying why we didn’t leave until after 7:30 for the walk. The truth is, I was stuck in a book. After work, I just sat outside and read. This happens to me a lot. I get into a book and the next thing you know, its 3 in the stupid morning. I was explaining to the daughter that I’m not necessarily a fast reader, but rather a master of skim reading. Admitting this out loud, is rather funny to me. I never learned how to do it, I was never taught how to do it, I just somehow ended up doing it. I do it with books ALL THE TIME. I also realized that I do the equivalent of this with TV series–fast forward the stupid stuff. “That character is stupid, that’s a stupid story line, I hate that actor.” I could go on and on. How else does one binge watch Greys or The Good Wife in less than a month? I just identified the how. THAT IS HOW. And that my friends, is skipping the fillers.

I think that authors or screen writers (TV shows) put in these fillers to prolong the book or the series. As an expert writer myself (insert LOL here), I do sometimes tend to add fillers. With the blog, there really isn’t a lot of time or space to do too much of that. But they do exist! I’m onto you famous authors and screen writers. YOU ADD FILLERS! I know when they are used and I skip them πŸ™‚ How else am I able to read a book in 4 hours? (Yes, I did that tonight before my walk).
