I do not have a green thumb. There, I said it. This is not a shock to those that know me. I have killed my share of plants. I have no shame in this, we will call it a skill, and I think that I’m programmed to have this skill. I just don’t get plants.
Now flowers, flowers are different. Ever since I bought my first house, I have flowers planted and they live outside. Are they called perennials? Short term beauty. Flowers make everything pretty and just HAPPY. Who doesn’t smile when they see flowers? Plus it’s short term attention and I can do anything short term.
So here it is, Tuesday. Work is work and after work, the daughter and I went on our walk. We changed up the route today and did it in about 36 minutes. I know, we were haulin ass. I was in a hurry to get home and transplant my flowers into their summer housing. We did see a dragonfly on the walk and it followed us for a bit. I tried to catch it, but it didn’t want to be caught. (more on the dragonfly in a later post)
I have the most amazing pots that I use every year and I just love putting red Gerber Daisies in them. Yes, I’m a selective flower lover. I am madly, madly obsessed with RED GERBERS. Other colors of the Gerbers do nothing for me. But the red ones, they are just magnificent. I did actually get another flower to plant, which is a mix between a Dahlia and a Gerber. Not sure on the name, but if these work, I’m sure I’ll buy more next year. And…shockingly, they are NOT red. They are this beautiful plum color and an orange type yellow.
I cannot kill the Gerbers. They just flourish on my front stoop and they look sexy as hell in my black pots. They get big and bloom constantly. So sexy. I hope you can feel my excitement. I know I feel it. It feels good to have it back. Last year, I didn’t plant any flowers. I was too heartbroken over losing Mom and I just didn’t know where my mind was at. I didn’t know it at all actually. Survival mode was in bloom, not the Gerbers.
The fact that I planted flowers this year, I’m going to chalk up to me healing. Yeah, that’s what I’m going with on this one.
