Another snag

Warning! This will be a LOOOONG post.

This past weekend was Memorial Day. With this day being about those that we have lost, it is also a day to do lots of other things; visit family/friends, BBQs, go places, do all kinds of yard/house work, etc. I was not exempt from this typical MD behavior. I’m not ashamed.

Friday started out my vacation and I did walk. Like walked my normal route with the daughter and a dog. A short dog who sloooowed us down but he was so damn cute walking 🙂 We did our walk in almost 50 minutes. At the end of the walk, my cheeks hurt from watching him. So Damn cute. I didn’t blog on Friday after the walk. I got distracted with all kinds of boys and friends and neighbors at our house for the Timber Puppies game. Lots of laughs and fun was had and I just didn’t get around to sitting at the computer to write.

Saturday was a day full of YARD WORK. We are talking cutting down tree limbs, moving the limbs up the hill and putting them into the truck, hauling them away. Manual labor makes me cranky and my hubbie knows it. But LORD was it a work out. I had my watch on and I “walked” up and down the hill at 3 miles. I’m totally counting this because it was labor, I moved and sweated (and got bug and wood cuts) for a long period of time, I was not sitting on my ass and I’m saying it counted. Later that night we were rewarded for our awesome behavior and accomplishments by seeing the wonderful human. We spent a wonderful dinner and drinks with her and her hubbie and life was magical for a few hours. I didn’t blog on Saturday because it was Saturday and I was a little melancholy about missing my friend. I also had a few too many (hubbie drove) and I came home and crashed.

Sunday was another physically demanding day with doing so much housework that my back was so sore I almost cried. Again, had my watch on and walked over 6 miles (squatting and rising and moving and cleaning) in just under 2 hours. I’m telling you, I did not sit my ass down all day. I had a pity party on Sunday because of my back and went to bed early (again, I didn’t blog).

That leads us to Monday. Memorial Day. I finished up my other projects and did more labor around the yard and the house. I had my watch on and did just over 3 miles (I turned on the indoor workout so it does measure distance and not steps) in under an hour. Once I checked my watch and saw how far I walked, I did sit my ass down and read a book. We then had people over and I just called it a night after they left. Again, no blog because I didn’t.

I’m justifying this in my head and I have to answer to myself. Today my arms hurt like hell, my back is beyond sore (still) and I found 2 tics on me this weekend. I’m kinda being a baby about this whole thing, but in reality, it all had to get done, I have a grad party to get ready for and it just happened the way it did.

Today I’m writing this, taking a break from work. I was outside in the garage, kinda feeling bummy (another made up word) cause I was thinking about my lack of walk/blogging and I heard an annoying bird singing. I couldn’t see the bird, but man, it was loud. In my pity party of one moment, I made a joke in my head that he (didn’t know it was a he) was looking for his lady. He wants to mate with her. I actually thought was, “Dude that is one horny little birdie!!” The singing got louder and louder. I’m in my garage, the tree is about 20 feet from the garage, and the bird singing is loud in the garage. Then the bird appears in the branch. Its a male cardinal. Instant PEACE. I took some pictures of the cardinal, showed him off, then his lady came to visit too. Made my heart oh so happy.

This is going to be a rough week, then followed by the year anniversary of mom passing the week after that. I’m going to keep my head down, focus some on me and my mental health. Keeping busy is going to be ok, but I’m still going to focus and keep trucking. Putting all of this into the universe has helped me and it will continue to help me.
